Dear members and associates,
I want to extend this invite to an event on Sunday March 24th with Long Hollow and all the organizations on the 'block'. The day starts with programming that is for relaxation and enjoyment. At 5p.m. there is a very important meeting to meet one another. As FCA begins to really sink roots the discussions of whether to create a overarching network of community organizations to work in concert to raise money, use of the property, etc are evolving quickly. Please consider attending this very important meeting between all the organizations in the neighborhood. Attached is the invite email from the organizers:
Greetings to all community organizations located in the Long Hollow Neighborhood on the old Public Works site. My name is Michael Crawford and I have been on the board of the Long Hollow Neighborhood Association for the past twelve years. We are very excited to have an active and varied group of participants and caretakers for this special place in Pensacola. The neighborhood has grown tremendously over the past few years into a unique home for residents, businesses, organizations, and events. This little block, in particular, that had for years been abandoned and neglected, has grown to be the home of the following spirited organizations: Long Hollow Neighborhood Association Open Books North Hill Preservation Association Emerald Coast Society of Makers First City Art Center Belmont Youth Band With the rapid growth of the past couple of years, we have come to realize that we have not all had the opportunity to meet one another and understand each others' visions and goals. We believe that a collective understanding of each other will create an environment in which each of us can grow and build upon our shared strength and vision. With this in mind, we are holding a not-to-be-intimidating pot luck event (think something small - appetizer, wine, cheese, etc.) on Sunday March 24th. at 5:00 p.m. We'd like to meet all of you, share in conversation, food and drink, and have each one of us briefly (just 5 or 10 minutes) present our organizational goals and mission. We are hosting several other events this day and we would love to see you at any or all of them, but our primary goal is to have at least one representative from each group (including one from each guild associated with First City Arts Center) at the pot luck. Here is what we have planned: Sunday 3:00 p.m. Free Tai Chi class in Long Hollow Park by Rob Dill of Lotus Rising 4:00 p.m. Walk the Labyrinth and learn of its history and uses 5:00 p.m. LHNA Pot Luck 6:00 p.m. Movie at Open Books - Werner Herzog's "Wheel of Time" First City Art Center will be also hosting their Hot Glass Cold Brew Friday night, March 22nd, and North Hill and Long Hollow residents will receive a $5 discount on admission. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Michael Crawford Caldwell Associates Architects 116 N. Tarragona St. Pensacola, FL 32502 850-439-3237
